چکیده

Adaptive modulation is a powerful technique to improve the energy efficiency and increases the data rate over a fading channel. The ground station transmitter and the satellite receiver adapt the modulation scheme and the transmitter power to the state of the channel. In this paper, we study adaptive multi-level quadrature amplitude modulation (M-QAM) schemes for LEO satellite over a Rayleigh fading channel using discrete rate adaptation strategy. This adaptation strategy maximises the capacity of the system. Results show that rate adaptation is the key top increasing system performance in term of average bit error rate assuming perfect knowledge of the channel. Key-Words: Fading channel, adaptive modulation, LEO, Transmitter, Receiver, average BER.

Adaptive Dynamic Channel Allocation Scheme for Spotbeam Handover in LEO Satellite Networks

Among satellite systems, low earth orbit (LEO) satellite system will make an important role in new fiture communication services, because of its less propagation delay, less power consumption in the user terminal and the satellites, and efficient spectrum utilization using smaller coverage area for each satellite than geostationa y (GEO) counterpart. However, a number of mobility problems that ...

Effects of Some Parameters on Thermal Control of a LEO Satellite

Satellite thermal control ensures safe operating temperature ranges for satellite components throughout the mission life. Effects of altitude, spin, and position of satellite radiator(s) on the thermal control of a small Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite have been studied. Results show that change in satellite altitude, in the range considered here, does not produce critical thermal conditions. H...

Determination of the best-fitting reference orbit for a LEO satellite using the Lagrange coefficients

Linearization of the nonlinear equations and iterative solution is the most well-known scheme in many engineering problems. For geodetic applications of the LEO satellites, e.g. the Earth’s gravity field recovery, one needs to provide an initial guess of the satellite location or the so-called reference orbit. Numerical integration can be utilized for generating the reference orbit if a satelli...
